Course Details: Basic Course

The Lay Servant Ministries (LSM) Basic Course is a foundational course designed to equip individuals for lay leadership within the United Methodist Church. It helps laity explore their call to serve God, neighbor, and the church, and discover their unique gifts and roles in ministry. The course emphasizes servant leadership, spiritual growth, and the importance of developing future leaders.

  • Exploring Personal Spiritual Gifts: Participants are encouraged to identify and utilize their God-given talents.
  • Developing Servant Leadership: The course emphasizes the importance of serving others as a demonstration of faith.
  • Role in Developing Future Leaders: Participants learn how to mentor and support other laity in their faith journey.
  • Importance of Consistent Spiritual Practices: The course highlights the value of regular spiritual disciplines in cultivating a closer relationship with God.
  • Core Ministries of Leading, Caring, and Communicating: Participants explore how to effectively lead, care for others, and communicate the gospel.
